We stayed at Hintok River camp for 2 nights, it was brilliant. The tent was lovely and very comfortable. A/C worked a treat, smashing bathroom. The decking at the front was great. The food was very tasty, breakfast in the restaurant and BBQ around the campfire in the evening made for a lovely stay. Lemm was our guide, we did a couple of boat trips on the river and a cycle ride to the temple early morning. Cookery lesson to make Thai green curry was a bonus, got to make it back home soon. The visit to the local tribe village was a revelation. The whole stay was brilliant and a great experience

We booked the 3 day discovery package plus an additional extra day at leisure. We were glad of the extra time which allowed us to manage the pace of the activities included in the package. We also had the time to be able to add a ride on the elephant at the local Mon tribal village. Other highlights from the package were the River Kwai bridge, the Hellfire Pass museum and walk, a river trip in a long-tailed boat and cycling around the area seeing rubber trees, people at home in the local village and monks at the local temple.

The comfortable accommodation is under canvas but the ‘tents’ are set on a concrete foundation with electricity and ensuite toilet and shower. The bed was large and comfortable.

The package included all meals. The buffet breakfast selection was limited in choice but generous portions, as was the set lunch. Dinner was also buffet, eaten at twilight under the stars around a camp fire.

The highlight of the resort is the riverside plunge pool fed by spring water. It was a pleasure to dip into after a hot day’s activities and to sit on the side looking at the sun going down over the river.

Stayed here in early November, can not really fault it .The food was excellent and it was a great setting , a former site of the POW.The scenery is spectacular and the noise in the night is loud! The drinks are well priced and even the massage was good , our guide Si Mon from Burma was a great guy even if he was a Man United fan! All staff were friendly and it was great to try something different .Great ride down the River Kwai in speedboat all in all a very enjoyable trip .Hellfire pass is a short walk away up many steps not for the less abled people but can be reached in the camps cars. The natural spring pool is a great way to chill out at the end of the day.

Wonderful 3 day trip visiting the historic location of the Bridge Over the River Kwai. First day spent visiting the Bridge and the Death Railway museum , followed by Hellfire Pass in the afternoon.

The service and friendliness of the staff at the Hintok River Camp is second to none , especially the main tour guide “Lam” whose knowledge of the area was outstanding and his genuine friendly attitude to helping everyone made this into an outstanding trip.

This location is definitely worth a visit and would recommend it to anyone think of coming to the area

We decided to stay somewhere close to hellfire pass as i wanted to go and pay respects to my pop- who was a prisoner of war on the railway. This place looked pretty special on the picture, but let me tell you now…this place exceeded all expectations. We are a couple with a toddler, and staying anywhere near water is always a concern for us. But hintok is perched up on a hill away from the water, and as long as you are always by your toddler, this place has heaps of room for them to run around.

There’s a natural pool at the bottom of the camp and lots of spots to lounge, relax.
The accomodation is so well thought out. It’s really glamping. Ok, it’s not a 5 star beach resort. But it is a contained room in a tent with all the luxuries you need in a natural setting.

Dinner/lunch/breakki were always amazing. My only complaint is that there was too much food. So foodies…you will never go hungry here.

The staff are just sooooo friendly, accommodating, kind and just plain lovely.
But i have to mention Lam, our “go-to” guy here. He is AMAZING. His English is amazing, he was great with our son (as he has a toddler too), and he was able to gauge exactly what we wanted to do while we were here. He is a genuine, caring man that i cannot speak more highly of.
Going to hellfire pass was so emotional for me that between Lam and my husband, they devised a second visit on my last day there so i could really take in this special moment.

Lam took us bike riding in the local village, he helped my son feed an elephant bananas when he got scared, he told me so many stories and history from the war time in thailand, he got our son fries when he refused to eat any of the amazing thai foodat camp, and when my son threw a tantrum-he joined in our laughter of toddlers…

We will never forget this place or the staff who made us feel so welcome here. I would give it 10 stars if i could.

Thank you Lam, all the staff and the owner of this place for making such a tribute and landmark for a history that should be remembered and reflected on.

We will be back…one day

It’s a great time when we visited the great place, Hintok River Camp. Around the trees and lots of nature. There is many activities here, swimming, camping, biking that we love to join them. The camp and the natural pool, how adorable they are!!! We will come back soon.

The history of this place is incredible, built on the site of an old WWII P.O.W camp. Tents air conditioned, wifi, no tv, own shower and toilet.

They provide a buffet breakfast and bbq dinner both very good and the little museum on site is also very good.

The 400 baht reflexology leg and foot massage was without a doubt the best we have ever had, so so so good.

Hintok is about having fun and being adventurous.

My husband & I stayed for 2 nights in July combining this with a short stay in Bangkok & 9 nights in Koh Samui. Our guide, Lam, was extremely informative & happy to answer any questions and the waiters in particular were very polite. Our trip to Hellfire Pass was very thought provoking.

Beforehand, we had also visited Kanchananburi PoW Cemetery & reached The Bridge via a boat trip on the River Kwai. Another highlight was a visit to a Mon village again via boat taken from the camp. The tents are perfectly adequate for a short stay & we found the food was very good although dessert was only either water melon or pineapple.

Unfortunately, rain meant we were not able to enjoy a BBQ outside & our cycle ride to see some Buddhist monks & offer food could not go ahead. Our final excursion was an hour ride on the Death Railway passing over an original wooden bridge constructed by the POWs which we thoroughly enjoyed.

We would definitely recommend the experience of staying in the rainforest & learning more about the many thousands who lost their lives building the railway.

Recently spent a night here as part of a 2 night package. Excellent stay, very relaxed, loved the natural spring by the river, the dawn cycle over the hanging bridge, the whole history of the area. Knowing it was a POW camp added to the atmosphere. Very clean comfortable tents

Lovely venue, overlooking the river. Serves Both Romance as well as activity lovers. The Luxury Tents are a little treat and a nice change from the hotels in BKK and Chiangmai. The buffet is ok and the staff is friendly. Just grab a beer and enjoy the beautiful view.

Loved our stay here!
The tents whilst at the same time were luxurious also add you feel a real part of the country.
Location next to the river was excellent and we were able to take a river cruise, creating numerous excellent photo opportunities.
Also loved the outdoor showers!
Overall a great stay and I would recommend this place 🙂

what a great experience! a 5 star camp site in the middle of the jungle next to the river kwai, you couldn’t get a better location for a camping experience! the tents were great, comfy beds outdoor showers (which were warm and attached to your tent)! food was great, lunch overlooking the river dinner by the campfire. if you get chance go for the early morning bike ride very refreshing! there is a freshwater pool and sunbeds next to the river towels are provided. you can also get massages on site! nights are quite chilly so take a jumper and trousers are good no high heels needed!!!! great experience not to be missed!

We stayed there for a night as part of a tour we were doing through the region of kanchanaburi.
None of us had tried *glamping* before so we were quite curious. Getting there was a bit of a track but once we had arrived it was just fantastic!!!! The tents are huge and equiped with A/C, except for the bathroom which is semi-outside and very open.

We loved the dinner, which was set up outside around a big bomfire!
